PLN’s First Phase of Fast-Track Power Generation Program which was launched in 2006 encompasses
10,000 MW Coal Fired Steam Turbine Power Plants at some thirty two locations throughout Indonesia.
CONNUSA is playing a significant role in assisting PLN with the realization of this Program.

ACHIEVEMENTS : Coal Fired Power Plants

For the past twenty years CONNUSA, in association with International Consultants, has completed Feasibility Studies, Detailed engineering design, Construction Supervision and Commissioning for Power Plants throughout Indonesia totaling more than 7,420 MW, of which Coal Fired Power Plants accounts for approximately 2,630 MW located at five different Power Plant Sites.
Indramayu Coal Fired Plant: 990 MW
Located in West Java this Power Plant consists of three 330 MW supercritical units. The scope of work includes for:
  • Boilers, turbines and generator sets including governors and voltage regulators
  • Unit, station and generator transformers
  • Protection and control facilities
  • Control Room and communications facilities
  • Indoor metal clad switchgear
  • Turbine hall with overhead heavy lift facilities
  • Workshops and maintenance facilities
  • Water cooling, water make up and emission facilities
  • All ancillary equipment including motors, pumps and local supplies
  • All civil site works, plant foundations, buildings and emission chimneys
This power plant accounts for 10% of the total capacity of PLN’s Phase One Fast-Track Generation Program. This power plant was completed in 2011. CONNUSA was part of the consultancy team to furnish Design Audit and Construction Supervision services.
Pelabuhan Ratu Coal Fired Plant: 1,050 MW
Located in West Java this Power Plant consists of three 350 MW supercritical units. The scope of work includes for:
  • Boilers, turbines and generator sets including governors and voltage regulators
  • Unit, station and generator transformers
  • Protection and control facilities
  • Control Room and communications facilities
  • Indoor metal clad switchgear
  • Turbine hall with overhead heavy lift facilities
  • Workshops and maintenance facilities
  • Water cooling, water make up and emission facilities
  • All ancillary equipment including motors, pumps and local supplies
This power plant accounts for 10% of the total capacity of PLN’s Phase One Fast-Track Generation Program. This power plant is to be completed in 2013. CONNUSA is part of the Consultancy team to act as the Quality Assurance representative of the Owner to assure Contractors’ works are in compliance with the terms of a turnkey contract by the contractor.
Tanjung Awar-Awar Coal Fired Plant: 600 MW
Located in West Java the Power Plant consists of two 300 MW units. The scope of work includes for:
  • Boilers, turbines and generator sets including governors and voltage regulators
  • Unit, station and generator transformers
  • Protection and control facilities
  • Control Room and communications facilities
  • Indoor metal clad switchgear
  • Turbine hall with overhead heavy lift facilities
  • Workshops and maintenance facilities
  • Water cooling, water make up and emission facilities
  • All ancillary equipment including motors, pumps and local supplies
  • All civil site works, plant foundations, buildings and emission chimneys
This power plant accounts for 6% of the total capacity of PLN’s Phase One Fast-Track Generation Program. CONNUSA is part of the team to act as the Quality Assurance representative of the Owner to assure Contractors’ work is in compliance with the terms of a turnkey contract by the contractor. This includes Design Review, Construction Supervision.
Extension of Asam-Asam Coal Fired Power Plant: 130 MW
Located in South Kalimantan this Power Plant consists of two units 3 & 4 of 65 MW each at Asam-Asam. The scope of work included for:
  • Boilers, turbines and generators
  • Unit, station and generator transformers
  • Protection and control facilities
  • Control Room and communications facilities
  • Indoor metal clad switchgear
  • Turbine hall with overhead heavy lift facilities
  • Workshops and maintenance facilities
  • Water cooling, water make up and emission facilities
  • All ancillary and auxiliary equipment
  • All associated civil works for plant foundations and structures
This power plant is part of PLN’s Phase One Fast-Track Generation Program. CONNUSA is the lead consultancy firm to represent the Owner to assure Contractors’ work is in compliance with the terms of a turnkey contract by the contractor. This includes Design Review, Construction Supervision and advising the Owner to accept or reject various parts of the project.
Atambua Coal Fired Power Plant: 24 MW
Located in Eastern part of Lesser Sunda Islands, Nusa Tenggara, this power plant consists of four 6 MW units. The scope of work includes for:
  • Boilers, turbines and generators
  • Unit, station and generator transformers
  • Protection and control facilities
  • Control Room and communications facilities
  • Indoor metal clad switchgear
  • Turbine hall with overhead heavy lift facilities
  • Workshops and maintenance facilities
  • Water cooling, water make up and emission facilities

Summary of Experience:
COAL FIRED POWER PLANT
CONNUSA has contributed 2,630 MW in total, some 28% of the total MW of PLN’s “First 10,000 MW Fast Track Program”. The services included Design Review of Contractors’ designs and drawings and Supervision of Construction and Commissioning with full scope of services as follows:
  • Detailed Engineering Design
  • Review and comment as necessary on overall program for manufacture, factory testing, shipping, delivery to site, construction, commissioning tests and system tests
  • Review of site preparation for power plants
  • Review results of soils investigations to be used in calculations for civil foundation and structural designs
  • Design review of contractor’s calculations and designs for all equipment and civil works
  • Review and approve all contractor’s drawings for plant, plant layouts, site layouts and all civil works
  • Review the Contractor’s Quality Assurance and Quality Control documents for compliance with the contract documents as well as applicable Codes and Standards
  • Witness and report on factory tests and inspections
  • Review arrangements for delivery of equipment to site with particular emphasis on heavy loads and bridge crossings
  • Review arrangement for storage of equipment at the different Sites
  • Supervise all construction activities for plant and civil works
  • Agree as necessary to changes to civil works in accordance with actual site conditions
  • Witness Commissioning Tests and System Acceptance Tests
  • Assist in final preparation of ‘as-installed’ drawings
  • Review of Site Health and Safety procedures
