Funding Agencies

Multilateral and Bi-lateral Funding Agencies have contributed significantly to the development of the electricity sector in Indonesia.

When providing loans or grants for major projects the multilateral Agencies realize the need to engage experienced internationally renowned Consultancy Companies to assist the Executing Agencies in the timely and technically sound implementation of the concerned projects. Normally a short-list of Consultants is selected, by geographical area, to bid for the Services Contract. At the same time these Agencies also appreciate fully the need to involve ‘Indigenous’ Consultancy Companies which can provide:

• Relevant information and technology relating to Indonesian Codes of Practice, Design Standards and Construction practices
• Assist in Client liaison
• Familiarity with local culture and business practices
• Familiarity with local geography, topology and means of access to Sites

For these reasons the multinational Agencies normally insist that off-shore International Consultants join together with suitable ‘Indigenous consultants’ in the bidding and subsequent implementation of the projects. Such an arrangement, by means of ‘Technology Transfer’ has the added benefit of enhancing the capability, technology and experience of the ‘Indigenous Consultants’ staff and also the staff of the Executing Agencies.

The Bi-lateral funding agencies adopt a similar approach to that described above. In their cases, however, the International Consultant is selected from Consultants from within the Country providing the funds or aid.

By virtue of the above CONNUSA has benefited by working with off-shore Consultants on a large number of projects and in particular has worked on projects funded by the following Agencies:
