Indonesia has a staggeringly high Geothermal generating potential of some 27,000 MW; this represents some 40% of known world potential resources. By the end of 2012 the installed capacity will reach some 1,300 MW, less than 5 % of available resources. There are some 230 potential geothermal power station sites located throughout the Archipelago.The Indonesian Government is placing high emphasis on the development of geothermal power for the following reasons:
  • Renewable with zero emissions
  • Attractive to private investors
  • Clean Energy with no global warming issues
  • Reduction in oil consumptions
The Indonesian Governments views are clearly reflected in PLN’s Second 10,000 MW Fast Track Generation Program which calls for the addition of some 3,900 MW geothermal plants. This is significantly higher than any other type of generation included in the Program.
CONNUSA is well placed to assist in the development of this additional geothermal generating capacity by virtue of its excellent service record in geothermal plant.

ACHIEVEMENTS : GEOTHERMAL POWER PLANT

Over the past twenty years CONNUSA, in association with International Consultants, has completed Feasibility Studies, Detailed Engineering Design, and Supervision of Construction and Commissioning for more than 7,420 MW of Power Generation throughout Indonesia of which some 400 MW has been Geothermal Power Plants located at six different sites.
CONNUSA’s relevant experience is as follows:
Ulubelu Geothermal Power Plant : 110 MW
Located in South Sumatra this Plant comprises 2x 55 MW Geothermal steam turbine generating units. The full scope of work included for the following:
  • Multi-stage, double flow steam turbines
  • Condensing system
  • All associated steam gathering and cleansing equipment
  • Well head facilities
  • Generators and all ancillary equipment
  • 150 kV substation and some 20 km of 150 kV overhead line
  • All associated site civil works, plant foundations and buildings
CONNUSA provided services in connection with Detailed Design, Bid Documents, Design audit and Supervision of Construction and Commissioning as follows:
  • Detailed Design Studies
  • Pre-qualification of Bidders
  • Preparation of Bid Documents

Lahendong II Geothermal Power Plant : 20 MW
Located approximately 20 km south east of Manado, North Sulawesi, this Plant comprises a single 20 MW unit. The full scope of work includes for the following:
  • Multi-stage, double flow steam turbines
  • Condensing system
  • All associated steam gathering and cleansing equipment
  • Well head facilities
  • Generators and all ancillary equipment
  • 150 kV substation and some 3 km of 150 kV overhead line
  • All associated site civil works, plant foundations and buildings
The objective of the Project is to improve power balance in North Sulawesi grid system and to reduce greenhouse emission (CO2) by some 110,000 tons per year. The specifications of the plant:

Ulumbu Geothermal Power Plant : 10 MW
The power station consists of four 2.5 MW unit at the eastern part of the Lesser Sunda Islands, East Nusa Tenggara, Ulumbu. This power plant was completed in 2011. CONNUSA was the lead firm to provide consultancy services in connection with Design Review, Supervision of Construction and Commissioning. The full scope of services was as follows:

Lahendong III Geothermal Power Plant : 20 MW
The Lahendong III Geothermal Power Plant funded by ADB loan consists of one 20 MW unit at Lahendong, Sulawesi. CONNUSA was part of the consultancy team to furnish Design Audit and Construction Supervision services to ensure Contractors’ works meet PLN’s Quality Assurance and Quality Control procedures.
Kamojang Geothermal Power Plant : 55 MW
The Kamojang Geothermal Power Plant consists of one 55 MW unit at Kamojang, Jawa. CONNUSA was part of the consultancy team to furnish Pre-Feasibility Study for the plant.
Hululais Geothermal Power Plant: 20 MW
The Hululais Geothermal Power Plant consists of one 20 MW unit at Hululais, ?. CONNUSA was part of the consultancy team to furnish Pre-Feasibility Study for the plant.
Lumut Balai Geothermal Power Plant: 60 MW
The Hululais Geothermal Power Plant consists of one 60 MW unit at Lumut Balai, ?. CONNUSA was part of the consultancy team to furnish Pre-Feasibility Study for the plant.
